Description from Possibility Place:  Chokecherry has white flowers that bloom late April to early May, and birds relish the seed in August. This plant prefers full sun, but also seems to do well in shade. It can be grown in sand or clay and is tolerant of wet or dry soil. It consistently produces early fall color of a nice red-orange.
